Cancellation of the Mercedes-Benz 2020 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup round and opening dates of the Bikepark & lifts

This summer, the world’s best pilots were once again set to compete on the tracks in Les Gets, offering the public a show as exceptional as last year’s World Cup in July.

In this unprecedented situation due to the Covid-19 crisis, the consequences in the mountain bike calendar are numerous, and cancellations are sometimes inevitable. This is the case of Les Gets which, in agreement with the UCI and the French Cycling Federation (FFC), is also forced to give up. For health and safety reasons, the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, which was scheduled to take place from 18 to 20 September 2020, is therefore cancelled.

Indeed, it is impossible to guarantee that the Downhill and Cross-Country events can be organised in good conditions and that the public will be welcomed and safe. It should be remembered that the 2019 UCI World Cup in Les Gets attracted nearly 100,000 spectators over the three days of the event.

This is a logical decision in view of the drastic measures that are difficult to apply due to the global situation, but a huge disappointment for Les Gets and its inhabitants. However, everyone remains more motivated than ever for the future, as the resort remains committed to future major international events, notably the 2021 World Cup and the 2022 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.
