Located on the heights of Mont Caly, the Chèvrerie des Félires opens its doors to you! This small goat farm, passionately run by Léa and Emmanuel, is about to celebrate its 6th anniversary. 🐐
A farm on a human scale, in tune with the mountain
The farm has around a hundred Alpine Chamois goats: a hardy breed perfectly suited to life at high altitudes! This breed is also well-suited to dairy production. It produces high-quality milk, rich in protein and fat. These are essential characteristics for cheesemaking!
And they are not alone: six pigs and around sixty heifers complete the summer picture, the latter being boarded during the summer season. 🌼
Cheese, the heart of our profession and our passion
Here, everything is made and matured on-site. The milking process begins in November, ensuring we have matured cheese just in time for the Christmas holidays!
Production is entirely artisanal. Starting at 5 a.m., Emmanuel goes to milk the goats, while Léa starts making cheese with the previous day’s milk. After caring for the animals and taking them to the park, the day continues with molding, maturing, and preparing orders. 🧀
It concludes with the evening milking, which begins around 5 p.m. and ends around 8 p.m.
Une production locale engagée dans les circuits courts
You can find their products for sale directly from the farm, as well as in restaurants and shops throughout the valley.
Some of their produce—particularly their delicious tomme cheeses—is also available in select Grand Frais stores.
This short supply chain model allows them to maintain a direct connection with their customers while promoting the quality of their farm produce. 🤝🏻
Visit the goat farm, an immersion experience
In winter, the goat farm welcomes curious visitors. Visitors to the shop are free to meet the goats, learn about the farm’s operations, and ask any questions they may have. ❄️
Come visit and leave with quality products… and often a little hay at your feet!
One farm, one team, one sustainable project
Today, an apprentice joins the team! Soon to be hired full-time, this is a sign that the farm continues to structure itself while maintaining a human scale. With around thirty goats raised each year to ensure the renewal of the herd, the Chèvrerie des Félires looks to the future with serenity. 🐐
“More than just a life project, we are committed to sharing with you our passion for goats and the finest local products.”
