To help you better understand what the resort has to offer, we visited three local agencies that welcome hundreds of holidaymakers every year.
On the agenda: – their advice on choosing the right accommodation, – the trends they observe among visitors, – what they believe makes a stay in Les Gets so magical, – and their current favourites.
A meeting with Les Gets agencies that immerses us in the heart of the local experience… to help you prepare for your next stay in Les Gets with peace of mind.
Meeting Thibon Immobilier
Can you briefly introduce the agency and your team?
The Thibon Immobilier Group, based in Les Gets for over 30 years, is a major player in mountain real estate. Founded by Nicolas Thibon, it brings together several brands specialising in sales, seasonal rentals and the management of high-end properties in resorts such as Les Gets, Morzine and Samoëns.
Beyond its real estate agency activities, the group has developed a comprehensive range of services, including hotel management, concierge services, maintenance, interior design, spa and ski shop, in order to offer its clients a ‘turnkey’ experience.
Our sales agency, located at 16 Rue du Vieux Village, is made up of Ambre Thibon, Sylvain Aniquet and myself.
On the rental side, our team located at 541 Rue du Centre currently manages more than 350 properties, mainly in Les Gets.
What types of properties are your clients looking for in terms of rentals?
Well-located apartments at the foot of the slopes and in the resort centre account for a significant share of the rental market.
They appeal to families and couples looking for functional, welcoming accommodation with modern facilities and direct access to shops and ski lifts.
Demand for luxury chalets is also high, targeting French and international families looking for spacious accommodation and luxury amenities (spa, sauna, fireplace, ski room).
What is your vision for the future of tourism and accommodation in Les Gets?
In terms of transactions, the market is stable and dynamic.
Winter remains the mainstay of Les Gets, of course, with an exceptional ski area and an atmosphere that attracts a loyal clientele every year.
In my opinion, the summer season is becoming increasingly important for the future of tourism in Les Gets. Our clientele is increasingly realising that summer offers real added value to the resort, thanks to the wealth of activities on offer: mountain biking, hiking, golf, cultural events, etc., and the dynamism of the local shops that bring the village to life throughout the season.
I therefore believe that all these factors point to a prosperous future for tourism and accommodation in Les Gets.
What appeals most to your tenants/customers when they discover Les Gets?
I would say that newcomers are mainly attracted by the resort’s dynamism and authenticity, its ease of access thanks to its flat terrain from the centre, and of course its very friendly atmosphere.
According to several testimonials, ‘Les Gets is appealing precisely because it offers a rare balance between authenticity, comfort and energy, both in summer and winter.’
How would you describe the spirit of your agency and the way you support your clients in Les Gets?
We are a brand new agency, established in 2023, and we wanted to offer our clients a bespoke service, supporting them from the very beginning to the end of their project and beyond. We work exclusively with Biotope and Aspen Immobilier, local developers also based in Les Gets. Our role is to ensure continuity of service for clients after the delivery of their new residence or chalet. We want to support our clients over the long term and build a relationship of trust with them.
What types of stays or client profiles are currently seeking properties here?
For rentals, we have all types of profiles, but mainly families who come to stay for their holidays in Les Gets. This is particularly because we have the right types of accommodation for this, with many large-capacity properties and apartments. Families come to Les Gets to stay in our accommodation and enjoy their holidays.
In your opinion, how does Les Gets stand out from other resorts in the Portes du Soleil?
Les Gets is a very popular resort, an authentic village with a family atmosphere. When visitors come, they really enjoy Les Gets and enjoy getting to know the local shopkeepers. It’s also a resort that is developing outside the winter season, which is particularly noticeable in the increase in demand for off-season rentals.
Have you noticed any recent changes in the way visitors book their accommodation in Les Gets ?
I would say that accommodation requests depend partly on snow conditions during the winter season. This year, people booked very early because we had excellent conditions for the end-of-year holidays last season. Outside of school holidays, we have more last-minute bookings, depending on conditions in particular.
Can you briefly introduce Barnes ? The spirit and DNA of the agency ?
Barnes is our second real estate agency in Les Gets. Historically, we had the La Centrale agency, which we took over from Denise Anthonioz in 2017. This emblematic agency has over 30 years of history. A few years later, we had the opportunity to open Barnes Les Gets alongside our associate Thomas Vantorre, who was already established in Lyon and the Lake Geneva area.
We wanted to develop this brand for its international dimension and its reputation in high-end real estate. The properties offered in Les Gets—whether for rental or sale—are increasingly prestigious, and it seemed natural to associate a brand like Barnes with them.
The spirit of the agency is, above all, human and family management, with sincere closeness to our teams and our clients. We strive to work in a benevolent, close-knit atmosphere and to offer our clients a smooth, high-end experience, faithful to the Barnes brand standards, while preserving the authentic soul of the resort, which is dear to Clément and me as we are Gêtois (locals).
What are the main expectations of holidaymakers who choose to stay in Les Gets with Barnes today ?
Our clients choose Les Gets for its family spirit and authenticity. It’s a resort where multiple generations gather: grandparents, parents, children… And that is exactly what we love: this human and friendly dimension.
At Barnes, we do everything possible to offer them a complete and constraint-free holiday experience. Most of our clients have intense professional lives: during their holidays, they want to enjoy themselves without worrying about the organisation.
We therefore prepare every detail before their arrival: ski passes deposited in the chalet, lessons booked in advance, groceries delivered and put away, and even arranging contact with a nanny if needed.
The idea is that their week is dedicated solely to sharing time and creating family memories.
What services/characteristics of accommodation do you offer your clients for a successful stay ?
It all depends on our clients’ profile, budget, and expectations. Today, skiing is no longer necessarily the main activity for holidaymakers in Les Gets: they are primarily looking for a complete experience, with moments of relaxation and sharing.
We have therefore developed a property offering that meets these new desires. Many of our chalets have wellness areas (spa, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi), gyms, or even cinema rooms. These amenities bring a real plus and contribute to the quality of the stay.
The Barnes clientele seeks a certain level of comfort and standing, which we ensure through the selection and equipping of our accommodation. All our chalets are also very well connected: we have installed Starlink systems to ensure optimal internet connection, especially for our clients who wish to work remotely during their stays.
What advice would you give to a family or a group of friends for choosing the most suitable accommodation for their stay in Les Gets?
At Barnes, we place the human element at the centre of our support. We encourage our clients to contact us directly to discuss their wishes and expectations. This initial discussion allows us to fully understand their way of travelling, their habits, and what they are truly looking for in their holiday.
Thanks to this discovery phase, we can offer them properties perfectly adapted to their needs. Our knowledge of the area and the resort—we are Gêtois—allows us to recommend the accommodation most in line with their stay style.
Upon their arrival in Les Gets, we always ensure a personalized welcome: we introduce them to the property, we interact with them, and we make sure they feel immediately at home. It is also a privileged moment to build a connection and make their stay an authentic experience.
If you had to summarise the experience of a stay in Les Gets with Barnes in one sentence ?
In the same spirit as our destination Les Gets, it would be to spend an unforgettable* stay with us and desperately want to come back.
