Route description

The Tour de Loex is the locals’ favourite way out when they want to escape the dust of the Bikepark. This is a wild and sporty route that requires a good level of fitness.

The run gets off to a strong start on the Chavannes plateau before heading into the listed area of Loex. The terrain is magnificent: roots, loose earth and technical sections in the forest contrast with the rolling sections near the Chapelle de Jacquicourt. It’s a demanding route where you need to keep your energy up for the 350m of positive restarts, but the reward is there: a total descent of 800m of ascent to reach the resort. It’s raw, it’s beautiful, it’s real mountain biking.

Expert advice

The team’s advice

Grip tip: The Loex plateau is notorious for retaining moisture. If the weather has been capricious in the days leading up to the event, expect the terrain to be greasy and tricky on the roots. Choose your tyres carefully!

The “Relance” tip: Don’t be fooled by the downhill profile. The bumps are short but steep. Keep a spare cog and don’t sprint like a deaf man from the start, or you’ll pay for it at the end of the circuit. Make the most of the break at La Chapelle to check your gear before plunging towards the village.
