The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup 2026 is much more than just a competition. It is the meeting point of the three disciplines that make up the world of mountain biking.
Each discipline presents its own challenges, techniques and unique riding styles. From fast and extreme descents to technical climbs and demanding cross-country courses, the Mountain Bike World Cup is a real challenge for competitors.

Downhill or DHI is certainly the most challenging and spectacular discipline in mountain biking.
Different technical or fast sections alternate in a succession of jumps, roots, scree, bends, overhangs and other obstacles of all kinds designed to complicate the rider’s task. It’s all about driving, with a furious mix of fear and adrenalin!
If you’re a thrill-seeker, don’t be fooled by the cheeky name of the Mont Chéry track, where you’ll be able to share all the thrills and spills of the race with the drivers… 🔥
Cross-Country (XCO for X for Cross, C for Country, O for Olympic) is the most widespread and most widely practised mountain bike discipline in the world, both as an amateur and in competition, as it is the most accessible.
Cross-country, which became an Olympic event in Atlanta in 1996, takes place on a closed circuit that riders complete several times. The elite events (men and women) last around 1 hour 30 minutes, compared with 1 hour 15 minutes for the under-23s. The principle is to ride through an uphill and downhill course that alternates demanding technical zones and steep climbs, requiring endurance, strength and agility to get the best out of the race.
Unlike downhill, where the start is individual and the fastest time is required, XCO events are organised as mass starts.

Since 2018, the UCI has incorporated a new race format into all Cross-Country World Cup stages, the XCC “Short Track”. This is a placement round, the results of which will be used to determine the starting grid for XCO events.
This very short (7 loops of 1.2 kms) and fast (20 minutes) race format involves few technical difficulties, but leaves the way open for some great battles that require an enormous amount of physical intensity and self-sacrifice to come out on top. There are two schools of thought: either you size each other up, keep an eye on each other and let your horses go in the last few laps in the hope of keeping up the pace, or you give it your all from the outset and try to open up the gaps quickly and stay in the lead right to the end…
Everyone has their own tactics in this relentless format, where suspense and emotion are one and the same. Added to this are the cheers and fervour of the spectators, who come out in force to support their favourite athletes, giving the riders that extra boost of energy that often makes all the difference when they cross the finish line!

World Championships, World Cups, French Championships, TFJV, Crankworx… It’s on the slopes of Les Gets that the greatest mountain bike champions have competed and won their finest medals. We all remember the historic 100% French podium in the Downhill at the 2022 World Championships! It’s a moment that will live long in the memory.
The years 2023 and 2024 were also marked by great French performances in Les Gets, with a victory for Benoit Coulanges and another for Amaury Pierron.
These exceptional athletes inspire mountain bike enthusiasts and are a role model for the growing number of young people taking up the sport in the mountains.
