Description
For his eighth show, Elie Semoun is taking a slight new direction: stand-up now plays a more prominent role, which is a first for him. But make no mistake, CACTUS remains true to his love of characters.
Amongst his gallery of new characters, you’ll meet Jean Abdul, who’ll be performing as the support act; a son who takes his father to visit a care home; Xavier, who has a physical disability and is introducing his wife to his mother; a father grappling with his son’s transition; a racist karate teacher; and a scathing take on sexual harassment and religion.
With *CACTUS*, Elie Semoun offers us a vision of our society that is both profound and light-hearted, straddling violence and inspiration, where the themes of intolerance, taboo and injustice are tackled without mincing words, yet always with that incisive touch that is his hallmark.
