Route description

The route starts at the Sincerneret car park, where you take a wide forest track.

  1. The climb: Follow the signs for the Chapelle de Jacquicourt. At the Clares crossroads, the slope becomes a little steeper. You then leave the main track for a more direct path that climbs through the fir trees until it leads to the plateau clearing.
  2. The summit : La Chapelle appears, enthroned in the middle of this protected area. Take time to admire the 360° view of the surrounding mountains.
  3. The return loop: Head back down towards Joux d’Amont. The path becomes more winding and goes deeper into the Bois de l’Ours.
  4. The finish: After passing through this dense forest, fork right towards the Marderet stream. The path runs alongside the water for a while before beginning a final ascent via the Vuarnier sector, taking you gently back to your starting point at Le Sincerneret.

Heritage & Nature

The scenery through which you pass is not only beautiful, it is also steeped in secrets and age-old traditions:

  • The hamlet of Sincerneret is a former summer pasture, a reminder of the commune’s agricultural roots.
  • The Jacquicourt chapel is located on the Plateau de Loex (Natura 2000) and is a historic pilgrimage site. Shepherds used to gather here to invoke divine protection for their animals and crops.
