Route description

This itinerary is very accessible and perfectly signposted, ideal for a relaxing outing.

  • Departure from the village: From the Tourist Office, head towards the Espace de Loisirs. The walk starts on the pavement and soon reaches the snow front at the “Vers le Chêne” crossroads.
  • The ascent to the lake: Go back up the ski slope, following the signs to the Espace de Loisirs. The slope is gentle and steady, taking you straight to the shores of Lac des Écoles.
  • The natural loop: Once you’re at the lake, let yourself be guided along the little loop that winds around the Mouille des Boittets peat bog. This is a great opportunity to observe the local flora and fauna.
The way back : To get back to the village centre, simply follow the same route as on the outward journey, taking advantage of an easy descent facing the village.

Heritage & Nature

The scenery through which you pass is not only beautiful, it is also steeped in secrets and age-old traditions:

  • The Mouille des Boittets peat bog: A veritable “wet lung” for Les Gets, this high-altitude area was formed over thousands of years by the accumulation of vegetation in water-saturated soil.
  • A precious ecosystem: It’s not just an unusual landscape; it’s also home to rare plants and specific amphibians. Above all, it plays a vital ecological role by storing carbon and naturally regulating the mountain water cycle.
