Introduction to electric mountain biking in Les Gets

With family or friends, electric mountain biking is the activity to try out this summer! Just the thing, Les Gets and Portes du Soleil have set up a number of trails suitable for e-bikes, so you can ride all over the resort on electric assistance, without fear of the gradients.

Les Gets is an ideal playground for discovering electric mountain biking, with five signposted trails offering almost 60km of fun!

The routes are varied and fun, with everyone going at their own pace: green and blue trails for lovers of quiet, contemplative rides around Mont Caly, Le Pléney or Morzine, and red trails for more experienced riders looking for a bit of challenge on the Col de Ranfoilly or the wilderness of the Plateau de Loex.

“The big advantage of Les Gets is that it’s a fairly hilly resort that’s not too steep, so there’s something for everyone. We have a wide choice of ‘discovery’ itineraries for families and children aged 7-8 upwards. For example, we start in Les Gets, go through Les Mouilles to the Parc des Dérêches in Morzine and return via 4×4 trails. There’s also access to more technical and enduro terrain on the Chéry and Morzine sides for more experienced mountain bikers. For the expert public who want to explore the Portes du Soleil, we try to get off the beaten track and look for old hiking routes that can be cycled to explore the area in a different way.
Les Gets has the great advantage of offering varied and fun routes for all levels. Another advantage of the resort is that it is ‘mountain biking friendly’, with direct access to the trails.

Conquering the world Portes du Soleil

Is it possible to get up high and take in the most beautiful views of the Portes du Soleil in one day? Yes, Captain, but only if you have some mountain biking experience and are in good physical condition!

For keen mountain bikers, there’s the Portes du Soleil Mountain Bike Tour, an 80km epic through the French and Swiss mountains, following the route of the Pass’Portes du Soleil.

Departing from one of the 12 French-Swiss resorts in the Portes du Soleil area, you’ll explore villages with a difference: from Les Gets to Morzine, via Avoriaz, Champéry, Châtel and Lake Geneva and Montriond, you’ll have a complete change of scenery. You’ll discover centuries-old mountain chalets, enchanting waterfalls and the majestic Dents du Midi!

Need a little help? To avoid a few difficult climbs, buy a Portes du Soleil ski pass and take advantage of the ski lifts!

“Gone are the days when you’d come back from the Portes du Soleil exhausted on a muscle bike! Thanks to the electric mountain bike, you have access to wonders outside the domain. There are some great rides around the Col de Cou, where the pastures are brilliantly green. I also like the Grand Paradis sector, near Champéry, dominated by the imposing Dents du Midi and Dents Blanches. There are incredible views of the glaciers. It’s a real change of scenery without having to exert too much effort.
Or, closer to home, the whole of the outskirts of Les Gets is great for exploring on an electric mountain bike: the Col de l’Encrenaz and Graydon near the Roc d’Enfer, or the Chamossière and Pointe de Nyon areas.
Electric biking is one of the fast-growing outdoor activities to be developed in Les Gets and the Portes Du Soleil. In particular, with the creation of more accessible itineraries to reach certain areas that today require a good level of technique.
