Route description

This itinerary captivates with its aerial profile and gradual descent towards the heart of the resort.

  1. The ridge line: From the Chavannes Express chairlift exit, follow the signs for “Les Gets” as far as the Mouille aux Chats crossroads. Then turn left towards the Pointe de la Turche.
  2. The summit : Don’t miss the short round trip to the Croix de la Pointe de la Turche. This is where you’ll find the most spectacular viewpoint on the route.
  3. The gentle descent: The return to the village begins along a very pleasant path. You will pass through the Grains d’Or and Mouille au Blé areas.
  4. The finish: The path then leads you to the Espace de Loisirs at Lac des Écoles, perfect for a cool break before finishing your walk in the centre of the village.

Les Chavannes loop” option: For those who prefer to stay on the plateau, it is possible to set off from Les Chavannes towards the Pointe de la Turche via the Plan du Rocher, then return to Les Chavannes from the Grains d’Or crossroads via the same lake.

Heritage & Nature

The scenery through which you pass is not only beautiful, it is also steeped in secrets and age-old traditions:

  • Etymology of La Turche: In Savoyard dialect, a “turche” was a tree stump or an upturned trunk. This name recalls the history of the ancestors who had to clear these steep slopes to create the mountain pastures you can admire today.
  • Alpage de la Mouille Ronde: A true emblem of the living mountain. Here, high-altitude cows produce the milk needed for farmhouse cheeses. Direct sales and on-the-spot tastings offer a gourmet immersion in local know-how.

The “Grand Angle” tip for turning a great walk into a memorable souvenir:

This is the photo itinerary par excellence. The passage over the ridges offers magnificent low-angled light in the morning. Beware of the wind: even if the sun is shining, the ridges are often exposed to draughts. Always pack a small windproof jacket in your rucksack so that you can enjoy the panorama from the Croix de la Turche.
