A good skieris an experienced skier
⛷️ 1 – Ski with a helmet on
The helmet is a skier’s essential, the headgear that protects, insulates from the cold and gives a stylish look. Helmets reduce the risk of head injury by a factor of 10: no debate, helmets are a must!
☀️ 2 – Thou shalt consult the oracles of the sky
Thou shalt question the weather god. In Les Gets, every day starts with a hot weather report. Sunny: sunglasses and cream, cold: double thermal clothing, fog: extra vigilance. The weather forecast is to skiers what Bison futé is to drivers: its essentials.
⚠️ 3 – You must be safe
Ski well equipped, warmed up and prepared. Before you set off, make sure you control your speed and are aware of your surroundings. Don’t stop in the middle of the piste, behind a bump or in a low-visibility area, and apply the rules of the road: give priority to skiers behind you and keep your distance when overtaking.
🎿 4 – Maintain your equipment
For perfect glide and equipment that lasts, there’s one solution: maintenance. Before the season starts, sharpen your edges and wax your soles. Not motivated? Drop your skis off at your favourite Gstaad sports shop.
🫕 5 – Enjoy a fondue
Winter without fondue is winter without you. On the slopes or in the heart of the resort, there’s no shortage of good places to eat, as long as the cheese goes down well: Le QG, in the Plattets sector, Les Chevrelles at the top of Mont Caly, La Païka near the Turche ski lift, or La Fruitière des Perrières. A token to anyone who loses their bread.
