The ascent of Mont Caly is the “contemplative” climb par excellence. Leaving the village, the route rises gently through mountain pastures and wooded areas. Unlike the steep slopes of the Chéry, Mont Caly offers a gentler, more constant gradient, allowing you to keep up a steady pace while enjoying the scenery.

Arriving at the hamlet is a real reward: you come out onto a ridge offering unobstructed, panoramic views. This is one of the most famous photographic spots in the region. The calm that reigns at the summit, far from the hustle and bustle of the centre, makes this a soothing and rejuvenating outing.

Expert advice

  • Sunset bonus: If you have the chance, make this ascent at the end of the day. The fading light over the Mont-Blanc range from the summit is an unforgettable sight that few passes can match.
  • Gear ratio: With an average gradient of 5%, this climb is accessible with a standard gear ratio. It’s the perfect route for a recovery outing, an introduction to climbing or a ‘healthy’ outing without looking for exhaustion. Beware, however, of some slightly rougher sections in the last kilometre.

Why choose Mont Caly?

Quite simply for the view. It’s the climb that offers the best ‘effort/view’ ratio in the resort. It’s a rewarding climb that allows you to gain height without needing to be in elite physical condition, while remaining on a road with very little traffic.
